A
special collection of twenty-two books has been added to the
Children’s Collection at
Livingston County Library in memory of Leda Adams. When Nancy
Peyton visited the library to discuss her mother’s memorial she
requested a focus on poetry books, so there are eight poetry collections
and five
picture books written in rhyme. Mrs. Adams was a teacher at
Pleasant Ridge in
Grundy County so
the other books chosen are nine of the
Magic Tree House
Research Guides which have been on the library wish list for some time.
These are
nonfiction books which
Mary Pope Osborne has written to accompany her popular fiction
series and are popular with teachers as well as children.
Anyone who would like to view the entire list can access it from the
Livingston County Library web page (www.livingstoncountylibrary.org)
by typing: Adams, Leda, in the subject box of the
Library Catalog section.
The books are now available to the public for check-out.

“Books Make the Best Treats” proved to be true again at Boo Fest as
books donated by the Friends of Livingston County Library and Alpha Tau
Sigma, the “Teachers Who Read” sorority, made it possible for the
library to give a book to each child who participated. The gusty wind
made it impossible to serve the children outside the building so the
loaded book carts were hastily moved inside to the first floor lobby and
the line of children and their families was continuous until 6 p.m. The
cold, windy weather made standing in the long line outside the library
uncomfortable and may have had a impact on the numbers this year. A
total of 669 books were given out: 147
board books, 216
chapter books, 201 easy books and 105 non-fiction books.
